Travelled through Dublin city centre this morning, apart from food shops, the only places open were the Post offices, two fast food places and two casinos and one lock, safe and security shop. The porn shop near my job is still open amazingly.

Still busy here especially on the seafront. Lots of cars – more than usual, i would say – and it's been a noisy end to winter hibernation for the lads who like to zoom up and down the coastal road.
i'm supposed to be moving house tomorrow. We wanted the removal people to do all the packing but i need to be in a room of my own so we emptied the bedroom ourselves and i have been living in it for a few days. Thankfully it gets a lot of light when, as now, the sun is out, because like all rooms it looks very sad when it's down to its bare bones. Obviously i can't travel in the van tomorrow with the removal folks and our worldly goods so it's going to be quite some operation getting us to the new place which is two to three hours away. i won't be sad to say goodbye to the neighbours who threw a house party all weekend. They and most of the guests are retired so God help them.
Nou is supposed to start a new job next week but there's nobody in her workplace and it's less than certain that she'll get access to all the stuff she needs in order to be able to work online. i rather suspect that the company would like to put off her starting date and she still hasn't signed a contract. She had a couple of days of behaving a little bit compulsively which is usually a sign of stress but she wouldn't communicate anything; she doesn't want me to worry, but i do. Then it was my turn to have a weepy moment. i recently made a new friend locally but she (sensibly) decided to go back to her country of origin while she could. i had invested a bit more in our friendship than i realised, and together with all the uncertainty it set me off. i'm better now: the logistics of moving have concentrated our minds.
The most pressing issue is trying to find something to eat this evening. We were relying on being able to get a carry out but that doesn't look as easy as it did a couple of days ago. If it's Ken's Kebabs (scene of the man-browses-telephone-during-massive-ruckus internet meme) or nothing, well, i would rather starve.

The council moved fast here. My husband took the kids out to the park today to play football and the playground is already shut down, swings removed, zip wire removed, sand pit fenced off. That's a bit sobering that my kids won't get to play in a playground again for months on end. We've got a seesaw in our back garden. Might buy one of those big trampoline cages.

Sporting - explanation. You are witnessing a reset from approximately ten years of the cheapest borrowing rates of all time to all markets (Government, Municipalities, Investment Grade companies, High Yield companies, individuals).
It is difficult to fund anything right now - even with the Fed offering unlimited money a standard Bank's risk appetite is being stretched way beyond where it intends to be. The banks that aren't getting this adjustment in are the ones that will likely end up bailed out, and then Paul Lewis and others will likely complain about that as well.

Just returned from a mile or so walk to pickup a prescription and visit Trader Joe's for the first time since things shut down.
Streets at weekend levels, though vehicular traffic is down more than pedestrians. People are still going out with their small children and toddlers; dogs are being walked.
Pharmacy had tape on the floor at 6 foot intervals, which worked a treat.
Trader Joe's had them outside and were limiting entry, but once in, it was by far the most pleasant and quickest shopping experience I have ever had there. Everything except rice was well stocked and the store was being kept at maybe a quarter of its usual capacity.
Took the bus home, in part to experience our new free transit system. One can only enter and exit through the back door; the front of the bus is chained off so as to minimise contact between riders and drivers. Works a treat from a passenger point of view.

Or amazing that it's designated an essential service?

It won't be, though. It'll mostly be the over 75s. If 1% of the population dies and it's almost all in that demographic, we'll lose 10%+ of our over 75s.
If you are prepared to argue otherwise, I would like to hear it.
