Castilla y León should really be divided into two, given how diverse it is. The same arguments have been put forward for similarly sprawling Andalucía, where Almería, for example, has more in common with Murcia than Cádiz.

So yeah, I'm sticking with my lesson.

The long-standing civil war in PP ranks between the leader, Pablo Casado, and the President of the Madrid region, Isabel Ayuso, has exploded into the open after revelations today that the latter's administration has awarded local government contracts worth €1.5m to a company owned by her brother. Cue a Vox surge in the next opinion poll.

It's a tricky calculation, in that the weaker PP gets, the more the potential of an alternative government recedes (safe to say none of the local parties would support Vox), but unless the Socialists and Podemos won circa 150 seats between them, it wouldn't be worth the gamble.

The leading contender at present appears to be Feijoo, the current President (PM) of Galicia - he's generally more centrist than the national party, and has maintained a balance in relation to both regional autonomy and the language question.

The "centrist" Feijoo has accepted the formation of a PP-Vox government in Castilla y León - commitments include dilution of national legislation on gender-based violence, "ordered immigration" (only the national government can actually control this) and scrapping historical memory laws about the Francoist legacy.
