If you think Russian had enough leverage to quell Iran, that having Gaza as a prison camp under apparent total surveillance meant you didn't have to worry about any incursions beyond a few rockets, if you were picking pointless fights with and undermining your military and intelligence services, it's easy to see complacency kicking in and the Govt and its state apparatus missing everything.

Personally I don't think Russia is involved in this at all, the attack is showing their weakness and zero leverage over Iran if anything. Iran doesn't give any more of a fuck re Palestinians than any other actor. They are doomed pawns.

250 Israeli youths killed at a rave. Absolutely tragic, and the revenge will be more so.

We can only hope that this whole thing might cause the centre in Israel to question how things are working out with turning a blind eye to Likud in exchange for safety. If they fail on the safety front, what else do they have to offer? More likely there'll be closing of ranks though, like with Bush after 9/11.
