should be able to wrap this race up in a few hours.

Crossover with the cycling timewaster, here is one from Lewis Carroll:

There was a young lady of station
"I love man" was her sole exclamation
But when men cried, "You flatter"
          She replied, "Oh! no matter!
Isle of Man is the true explanation.

A few hours being, of course more than 24.

            Limerick week, race 1 results:

After an unforgettable indoor season for which the Word Racing International Player's Union is still playing fines and levies for "unacceptable levels of whatever it is we disapprove of", we return to the outdoor venues.

Alas, most of the racers appear unaccustomed to the demands of fresh air, bright skies, and the traditional wearing of the pasta strainer as a headpiece.

Our test racer appeared quite cheesed, as their pace was not matched by any of actual team's entries, perhaps only due to the shaking of the indoor hangovers and the teams' inability to restock their 'supplements' cabinets.

Ah bollocks. The only time I've had a go at getting into OTF in the past few days the boards turned out to be down for the day. I finally make it back this afternoon to find I missed the start of Limerick Week by a handful of hours.

Can I even join in with the rest of the week now, given that by definition we need to supply five lines for five races or else it won't be a limerick?

I wouldn't say no, though it's not up to me. It's only a game.

of course you can, just submit your race 1 'late' entry. I'll tell you where you would have finished too. Just no imaginary points for you.

Thanks though matt, I'll get limericking. How long until the Race 2 entries close?

                                      OK, I'm in.

First line is pointless (in every sense) Race 1 'submission', post-hoc. Second line is official Race 2 submission:

                                      A teacher in Buddhist Tibet
Is a lama, and monk-y, but yet

based upon the way today is shaping up, probably not until tomorrow (Saturday).

would have tied with San Bernardhinault.

well, if race 1 entries are to be trusted we are just missing Sits , I think.
