That's all this binfire of a country needs, a more politically interventionist monarch.

Sadly for the people who live on the NE Lincs coast, they chose to elect absolute arseholes as their MPs who despite representing coastal towns were perfectly happy to vote for water companies to flood the coastline with shit and piss.
Cleethorpes is represented by Martin Vickers who appears to have the same politics and beliefs of Rees-Mogg but comes in a shape closer to that of a human being, whilst Grimsby has Nia Lici, who throughout his tenure, even at the end when his closest allies were turning on him, continued to hold a ladyboner for Johnson that was strong and hard enough to have Nadine Dorries consider her a threat.

Is Kuennsberg's style today a "BBC skill" or just incompetence?

It’s neither a key skill or incompetence.

            It’s deference.

Unfortunate/appropriate typo in the spelling of Ingoldmells in the BBC article.

Oh that is superb. Wonder if it’s what we used to call “accidentally on purpose” at my old school.

In an increasingly rare example of journalistic integrity - that would be journalists being appropriately rigorous and doing their job - Andrew Neil had just decimated Tory Chairman Jake Berry on his C4 show. No wonder Truss avoided Neil like the plague during the Tory leadership battle.

Andrew Neil and journalistic integrity don't belong in the same sentence- sorry

From his claim that HIV didn't cause AIDS to his readiness to employ David irving he is utterly without scruples.

If he's going in hard on the Tories its only because its Ok with Murdoch and co

Wasn't it Johnson avoiding Neil during the leadership election he won or the subsequent GE?

But anyway, Neil is an excellent interviewer who savages without fear or favour and does so despite his strong political views, the latter often blinding people to the former.

Neil is a phony who is good at performing the tough journalist but in reality being nothing of the kind, Unsurprising that some are impressed

He performed it well enough tonight, which is what I commented about. Not his entire career.

Your final sentence is as condescending and arrogant as only you can be.

I'm fully with Nef on this one

I disagree with Nef about Neill's skills as an interviewer, which are considerable. I agree entirely with him that he employs those skills entirely in line with his political views rather than some higher journalistic calling.

He can do an interview now and again. He's an utterly dreadful person, of course, and quite obviously his politics shine through in his interview work. Though maybe a bit less there than in other parts of his work.

He’s a former editor of The Spectator. He fronted the appalling GB News. His political leanings are well known.

I’m just saying that tonight, in contrast to so many political interviews I’ve heard this week, Neil appropriately challenged a high ranking Tory on the current economic crisis.

Neil can, when he chooses to, be a very effective interviewer.

The key is that he makes it obvious when he is choosing to be.
