Conte now appears to be confirmed as the new leader of 5 Star, and has unveiled his manifesto, where the stelle would stand for "community, ecology, social justice, technological innovation and an eco-social economy ".

The tax amnesties were in hindsight incredibly important, firstly in that they brought in a massive amount of revenue when we were actually properly bankrupt, but also bringing people into the tax system allowed them to openly spend the money that they essentially had to keep in their mattress.
Imagine how bad things must have been for ireland to make businessmen, farmers and the self employed pay tax?

It blows my mind that this man is not politically dead and buried. But here we are.

It's also mindblowing that he has become a centrist figure, given how far Italian politics has moved to the right in the last decade - thankfully, the parliament, which is still dominated by the Democrats and Five Star, actually elects the president.
