For some reason, the original thread isn't showing on either this search function or on Google when you try various Italian political names, but Renzi has brought everything crashing down tonight.

Why is he such a cunt? I don't understand this at all, but hey. From that article his beef seems really vague bar shouting and screaming for attention.

Italian politics are full of mediocrities who are in it for the attention.

He is a prime example.

Here's the current state of the Italian opinion polls. Basically the League (green) and Five Star (yellow) are on a downward trend, the DP (red) are fairly stable and the Brothers Of Italy (dark blue) are on the up:

As that illustrates quite well, the most salient development in recent months has been that Salvini (green) has been losing support to Berlusconi's protegee Merloni (blue), who shares much of the Lega's ideology but lacks a good deal of Salvini's personal baggage.
