I also don't think that the Irish property tax is left-wing, mind, so I guess we have some different ideas about politics. I'd not have Irish Labour as of or on the left either.
(I guess I'm assuming by "right-left prism" you mean the idea that parties can easily be slotted into boxes like the ones people slot the the major parties in Britain into. If I've misunderstood, let me know.)

Just as an aside, I don't think people should be quoting posters to get around the ignore poster function. If someone has chosen to ignore, then that's their right, and they can easily read the page not logged in if they want to read something by someone on their ignore list. By all means say something along the lines of "that's an excellent post TAB, I recommend that Ton Ton reads it" but people use the ignore poster for all sorts of reasons and third parties shouldn't be second guessing them.

The problem is that some of the more idealistic, and er less practical members of the green party believed this bullshit about sinn fein being a left wing party, and didn't notice the yawning chasm between rhetoric, and their stance on virtually every key practical issue. But I don't think many of them were going to be happy in any kind of govt. The truth is that sinn fein were nowhere near being in power after the last election, you would have to be out of your mind to go into coalition with them. You can see exactly how they behave in the northern assembly. They don't play well with others.

If this poll were to be accurate, Ivana Bacik would win the Dublin Bay South by-election on transfers:

Although the actual turnout demographics would appear to favour Boylan out of the big three:

39% being relatively high for an Irish by-election with two hours at that point until polls closed.

FG needed to be ahead on the first count to have any chance of success, but now apparent that Bacik will be elected after transfers:

Officially Fianna Fáil's worst-ever electoral rout, which should dampen Jim O'Callaghan's leadership plans, given he was Director of Elections. Meanwhile, in the "bald people fighting over a comb" update, Justin Barrett (176) is just three votes ahead of Dolores Cahill (173).

Jim o callaghan's leadership ambitions entirely in his own mind I'm afraid. He was running in that constituency when I was in college (as was noel whelan) and when he couldn't get elected for fianna fail under bertie, he should have taken the fucking hint.
Fair dues to bacik for getting elected, because if you were following the coverage, you'd be forgiven for thinking that this was a straight shoot out between fine gael and sinn fein.
It's amazing the degree to which the rise of sinn fein is propelled by our political media and their desire to cover politics like some sort of sporting event. Sinn fein went into the last election looking to avoid a third consecutive hiding following the local elections where they were wiped out in large parts of the state, on top of losing two mep's and got brutalised in the presidential election. (Hence their absurd manifesto and turbo charged clientelist promises that they could never get near implementing if they got into power.)
This relentless focus on these two parties, encouraged by the volubility of their awful supporters online, is a real problem for everyone else

So they've given the government a bloody nose by voting for the government instead of the government?
