Also sceptical of Permanent govt paying more than lip service to green policies - senior mgmt of the culchie commissars at Agri like a good greenwash but care more about feeding half the world with fucking beef or Irish dairy.

Could one of you briefly summarise the bill's main provisions and targets?

Thankfully, gov.ie has obliged, though as LS says, practical implementation will tell the tale.

Thanks, DR. An awful lot of it seems to be plans and committees and bureaucracy and stuff, which is probably all necessary but there's not much in the way of tangible proposals.

What's the Republic's current power production mix? And are there any particular industrial sectors that have a lot of work to do to bring themselves into line with future requirements?

Farming. We are currently piss poor on renewable energy production considering our abundant natural advantages, way behind Scotland let alone Denmark.

I just spotted that PBP is claiming a membership of 3,000. I wonder how true that is. Would be the equivalent of almost 30k in Britain.

The renewable power thing seems a bit odd. A few mega wind farms on or just off the west coast would generate a substantial chunk of the country's needs, I would have thought.

I could believe it TT. The micro Trots have a good ground game in Dublin.

Not to mention eliminating all the community hassle generated by onshore farms.

That community hassle NIMBY pish could also be eliminated or mitigated if you make it easier for communities to profit share from the wind farms.

I'm amazed nobody has mentioned the Beacon Hospital?

OK then, the Beacon is a private fee paying Hospital, that is administering vaccines through the Department of Health. On Tuesday they had 20 vaccines left over. Did they

                            A) give them to patients in the hospital

                            B) call one of the many GPs in the area, asking them to see if they could contact 20 vulnerable people or

                            C) Drive 15 km ( that's three times longer than the 5km official limit on travel) to a private fee paying school in Bray co Wicklow, and let 20 teachers there skip the queue by at least a month.

The Beacon has admitted it was a wrong decision. St Gerards school have yet to comment.

Private hospitals and private schools man. Burn them all down.

You may well think that Spoony, like all right thinking people, I'm sure that's just a massive coincidence.

Also the Department of Health building up private dossiers on children with autism who take legal action against the State, but one sadly gets inured to scandals over the decades.

That's just standard Departmental behaviour against awkward squad plebs. I'm surprised anyone is surprised about that one.

Of course, given how Irish constituencies work, can't translate that into seats, but if it was spread evenly nationwide, and FF being transfer-toxic, they'd be lucky to get ten TDs out of that.

The Workers' Party (which currently has only one councillor throughout the island of Ireland) has recently undergone a split, which pits the Dublin HQ against the Cork and Belfast wings (the last named known as the NI Business Committee). It appears the differences concern the approach to take in relation to a united Ireland, with the traditionalists wishing to maintain a Wolfe Tone appeal to Catholic, Protestant and Dissenter, while the rebels want to push for a Border poll. In the heel of the hunt, the dissident Stickies held a Zoom Ard Fheis earlier this month, and Cork councillor Ted Tynan was ultimately expelled, at least according to the Officials.
