It is thought that Edmonds may try to sell the show's format to another broadcaster.
I can't see any other broadcaster wanting to pick it up (Edmonds's creation belongs to Sky as Tommy Cooper's fez belonged to him) - but then I underestimate the thought processes of the major terrestrial channels, and we may see a watered-down, non-council baiting version without the political rally bits while keeping that aspect which lays on acts of kindness for members of the public.
Which sounds like something akin to 'Surprise, Surprise' to me. And I hated that. Maybe because I have a soul as cold as the Arctic Circle, or maybe that Cilla Black's nerve-fragmenting warbling of the title song - which sounded like someone's granny grabbing the karaoke microphone after downing a swimming pool's worth of Jack Daniels and which could easily be utilised by police to bring armed sieges to a swift end - triumphed in furnishing the abandonment of any hopes.
