Radio Four broadcast today from Jerusalem this morning, some interesting things but in the effort to appear neutral a lot of Israeli propaganda is allowed to get through. Amira Haas was on and she was excellent, a real shame that she isn't on more because she comes across as calm, rational and knowledgeable.

Amira Haas is fantastic, and the reporting from Ha'aretz and +972 is usually outstanding.

Meanwhile the tone in the Jewish press in the US is changing. The Forward was always left, but in the main pro Israel-

A professor of law, gender, and sexuality studies at Columbia University,Katherine Franke also directs the Center for Gender and Sexuality Law and is the faculty director of the Public Rights/Private Conscience Project. She was deported upon her arrival at Ben Gurion last week because, Israel said, she has a prominent role within Jewish Voice for Peace.
With the number of American Jews supporting Israel rapidly decreasing, you would think Israel would hesitate before pursuing such stupid, unforced errors as expelling Franke and Shakir for their rights advocacy. But Israel has simply stopped caring what the liberal Diaspora thinks. How long will we squirm before we are ready to say, “I have Jewish values to pursue and I’m wasting my time trying to pursue them in Israel”?
was in Israel last month with my son and my new daughter-in-law and we spent a lovely half-day with an architecture guide in Tel Aviv. She asked us what we were doing that evening. My daughter-in-law said, happily, “We are having dinner with mom’s friend Hagai ElAd of B’Tselem.” The guide said, “You should poison him. He is a traitor.”

Yes Haas is superb. It's the existence of superb journalists like her and Levy that give me hope for a better future for Israel

But it's Palestinian blood. They don't count. It's not real blood

Death toll now reported at 41. (including minors)

BBC reporting "clashes" on the Israel-Gaza border.

PBS website appears to show IDF using white phosphorus in their attacks on Palestinian civilians (though this could of course be old footage)

Though I'm not convinced about this -

It's on Benji and the IDF, but it's impossible to think there'd be no protests about it, and it's impossible to think that Israel would think they had carte blanche to respond in any way possible.

He's certainly an accessory before the fact.

And there are reports of the crowd chanting "Trump, Trump, Trump" at the inauguration ceremony.

So it's crystal clear they're not expecting any criticism, and that they believe they have his overt support.

They do have his overt support. He is quite clearly and brazenly in favour of the brutal racist occupation and I am quite certain that if he bothers to comment on today's events he'll blame the dead for getting in the way of the bullets. Racist love Trump and he loves them right back.
