Still, Johnson seems to think it's a good idea to start lifting lockdown already. What's the worst that could happen?

This sounds promising - trials with macaques inoculate against ten strains of Covid-19, and with no discernible side-effects:

Is Utah one of the states that has inoculated businesses against covid related litigation?

Sudan has more than 800 cases.

SB, yes, but only to a certain extent

The immunity provided in the bill does not apply in cases of willful misconduct, reckless infliction of harm or intentional infliction of harm.

The UK has over 200,000 cases and over 30,000 deaths, but apparently this is the time when everyone should start planning their summer beach holiday.

That certainly looks "reckless", bordering on "willful". I hope they get sued out of existence.

Yes, explicitly instructing employees to ignore operative regulations is considered at least "reckless" pretty much everywhere (and "willful" in several places), and I'd be surprised if Utah is out of step with the rest of the country in that regard.

Yesterday there were just eight new cases of Covid-19 reported in BC. This afternoon the Premier is set to announce the first steps toward the "new normal." Expected are opening up of "the retail sector," outdoor summer sports, and hairdressers. What this means in practice we'll see.

Some very well-coiffured and nattily dressed yacht club parties?

One of my wife patients died of Covid today. She was in long term remission from cancer. She was very fond of her, she felt drained coming home. Particularly moving was the husband desperate attempts to catch sight of his wife from outside the hospital...

Possibly, possibly. But I think the Summer Sports bit mainly has to do with allowing kids baseball and soccer leagues to run. Most of the regional and municipal parks haven't been closed anyway, and this would would just formalise and administrate what's begun to take place already.

French state of play at present - good on the west coast, south and most of the north, middling in the old Nord-Pas de Calais, Centre, Auvergne and Rhone-Alpes regions, but awful in Paris, Alsace, Lorraine and Champagne:

Iran has reported over 100,000 cases now, but the data from there seems so weird that I have no idea how accurate it is.

It seems to get re-upped. Haven't seen it. Can't say I have any interest in watching it either.

Loads of rumours flying around that schools are opening on June 1st. My school is allegedly talking about 10-15 students in a class, that's no social distancing at all.

That map isn't just based on infection or death rates, but also on the available ICU capacity in each departement, so you have some places in amber on the map (e.g. 15, 43 & 63) which actually have very low case numbers but also have a low number of ICU beds through a combination of being sparsely populated rural areas, and of having taken on coronavirus patients from other regions to relieve the pressure on hospitals in the worse affected areas.

So the colour doesn't so much reflect the risk of catching the virus in those areas, as the risk of the hospitals being overwhelmed there if the number of cases starts to rise again.

Edit: it actually even says so to the right of the map doesn't it! Never mind.
