Robin Swann has a decent chance of winning South Antrim, and it wouldn't take much to swing East Belfast for Naomi Long. Lagan Valley is a longer-odds shot, but Sorcha Eastwood already ate into Donaldson's majority in 2019.

There's sensitivity about membership figures but there's also an issue of openness and transparency given that the winner effectively become First Minister.

The response from the Welsh Secretary and the Tory MP for (checks notes) Dudley North to a Welsh Government report that included independence as just one of several constitutional options is disappointing. Not even allowed to talk about these things, apparently. Using this report as a stick to beat the Welsh Government with shows the real face of Tory unionism.

I mean, we could ask why Wales has lower educational standards than the rest of the UK or the longest NHS waiting lists (which is debatable or whatever). Those things are fixed with money and the Westminster government's own reports say that Wales isn't given enough money. Plus all the money that was supposed to come to Wales to replace EU money is controlled by... oh, yeah, by Westminster.
This is the tactic of the unionists. Keep Wales under-funded. Then beat the devolved services for not performing. Don't fix them. Just keep hammering on about how rubbish everything is for the Welsh and how it's all their own fault. With their silly language and ridiculous socialism. Stupid ignorant shifty taffys always on the rob. Forever beggers at the gate.

Not 100% convinced on this but it does make a good case for not having a referendum about independence in Cymru

Yeah, the idea that the devolved governments would be allowed to develop as institutions until they are capable of declaring independence ignores the current situation where those governments are being undermined and diminished by Westminster.

I feel this indicates something very bleak in store in terms of Annibyniaeth for Cymru.

Jesus fuck. To pluck a fucking example from the air, in 1996 gerry Adams niece Anne, came to him to tell him that gerry's brother had been abusing her throughout her childhood. He sided with his brother. When his brother came to him and told him in 2000 he took him into his house and got him a job working with children. And then only said anything to the police when the case was well on its way to court, the BBC were about to air a programme about the whole thing and his role in it. I am fucked if I cam distinguish a difference between this and fucking archbishop Ryan in 1970's dublin. Yet the entire sinn fein party decided that this was 100% fucking fine and that dirty cunt would go on to lead his party of dirty cunts, well probably to this day.
The republican movement was riddled with child abusers to a degree unusual even by the standards of irish voluntary organisations of the 1970's. I would be seriously slow before I started throwing stones.particularly on this particular topic.
This sort of awful toxic bullshit is a truly bipartisan activity, it knows no difference between race, creed or conviction. I suppose that the wider lesson that we can draw from it is that a cunt is a cunt is a cunt, no matter what hat or Jersey or sash they are wearing. Best to try not be a cunt, at least some of the time.
