Condescension or neglect. The history of French colonialism in Canada is classic. Basically settlers from France were dumped here and left to fend for themselves, no support of any kind. The British OTOH built a viable exporting community via the HBC, maintained by regular contacts with England.* Even today Québecois are still laughed at and looked down by many French visitors. Most of whom, probably have little to no knowledge of Québec's history or culture because their ancestors left them to freeze.

(*Yeah, I know, at the expense of abysmal treatment of the indigenous residents.)

Incidentally, no such tensions exist between French and citizens of French speaking countries when abroad where the many cultural commonalities we share become much more apparent because we are in a culturally foreign land.

Those are broad brush observations btw.

                  Right to Remain toolkit:
                  https://righttoremain.org.uk/toolkit/

"a guide to the UK immigration and asylum system. It gives an overview of the legal system and procedures, with detailed information on rights and options at key stages, and actions you can take in support of your claim, or to help someone else."

This looks very useful, please share to your wider community.

One can only laugh at Daniel Hannan and the Spectator being taken aback at the consequences of their own rhetoric.

Priti Patel and Sajid Javid aren't defined by such base matters as nationality or culture. They are randian superheroes, held in chains by the petty demands of 'society' which is merely a construct of the useless many, who parasite on the enlightened greats.

This is the prism through which you should judge their actions, because apparently this is what they believe. How great that they are home secretary and chancellor.

Who could possibly be surprised by this, given the remarkable success rate for virtually every single person who takes their immigration case to the media to be granted further leave.

                                        Sorry.

                                        But we're all complicit here.

                                        Guilty by association.

And we've got to act to prevent any repetition.

It's outrageous on several levels but also surely illegal, as there's no way that DRC is a safe country for her. However, it now seems to be standard practice to just ignore the dangers faced by deportees, which I just find shameful and upsetting.
