There was a guy in college, same major as me, who was in Mensa. He had a membership card. He wasn't a dumb guy or anything, but not the sort of person about whom you would think, Now there goes some serious brain in a box. Had a real oblivious quality about him. What I'm saying is, I thought I was kinda self-evidently smarter than he was. And I have no time for an international society of wizzes which seemed like I could belong to it. Maybe he just didn't let on, I dunno. Maybe he was always working out equations in his head, or doing mental joust with Kant.

may not be as far from the truth as you imagine. It starts off with a certain member contacting the owner/mods complaining of harrassment by someone using pm's. The protagonists usually have their accounts deleted and all goes quiet until the member loses a particularly heated debate.
Within days a post usually appears, a vicious attack and then supporters/detractors spend the next coupe of days in a bout of verbal sparring. Meanwhile the member in question will respond with a few "I only say these things to protect myself" posts.
It will oly be a matter of time before the put-upon approaches the mods to ask if they can have "limited" moderator privileges to help moderate their own posts.
This may all seem reasonable until it is realised that the original pm's were probably made by friends of the member, and the post which causes all the fuss has probaby been made from Canada.
If I'm wrong then I apologise but there is coincdence at work here and I don't believe in coincidence

            * When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night, he checks his closet for MsD.
            * MsD doesn't read books. She stares them down until she gets the information she wants.
            * There is no theory of evolution. Just a list of creatures MsD has allowed to live.
            * Outer space exists because it's afraid to be on the same planet with MsD.
            * MsD does not sleep. She waits.

I think that's how Stalin got started, actually. Limited moderator privileges to start with, then worked his way up to Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet. She wants watching, that Miss Dynamite.

I put down the tea. Put the tea down. Another post. Another anonymous post. Someone else, also with an axe to grind, had written another anonymous post. I put the tea down.

I had seen it before, I knew. That style. Seen that style somewhere before. But where? Somewhere, some time before. Was it earlier on the thread? The opening post? I put down my tea.

MsD is clearly a fighter, not a quitter.

And what did happen to Ms Dynamite? A couple of hits in 2003 and that's yer lot.

An unlikely alliance of EIM and Toro has immeasurably brightened this thread.

I don't want to keep on... but hey, I will anyway. "When I asked Gary". Yeh right, sure you did. Similarly "no-one remembers her" - how the fuck would you know? You don't know any of these people. I've never claimed to be anything I'm not or know anyone I don't, have been anywhere I haven't.

What's strange about / wrong with choosing London (or Edinburgh, or St Andrews) over Oxbridge, particularly when (as noted) someone has a thriving social life in London, is passionate about music and fashion? What the fuck is wrong about doing a PGDip or telling someone "I already have an MSc" (the quote lifted was a response to someone friendly on TalkPunk asking me what course I was doing, I answered and explained why I wanted some formal grounding in Dev. Studies plus access to all the libraries - quite reasonable?).

What's all this crap about Mensa - Gary Bushell and Jimmy Savile are members, who'd want to be in their club? And when have I ever discussed nails of any sort with anybody, anywhere, anytime? I might have mentioned black nail polish on the Biba thread on TalkPunk (where I admitted shoplifting a few things when I was 14 - a New York Doll was nicked there, that's why the subject arose). That's it.

                                                What bollocks.
