Scotland are touring the Americas in summer, v Canada in Ottawa, and the US in DC, then to South America.

Major League Rugby is 3 games into the new season. Toronto and New York went bust, Atlanta moved to Los Angeles, and some sort of US eligible developmental squad has been slapped together, playing in Charlotte.

Georgia dominated yesterday, I turned off after 60 minutes.

These like good changes. The line out could be interesting.

Still nothing from World Rugby on Neil Jenkins totally respectful attitude to the referee.

This fad of water carriers being coaches also needs to end too.

The Rugby Football Union says there will be a review into the incident on Saturday during the Saracens v Harlequins game in which saw a possible case of foul play was ignored by match officials on the bizarre grounds that the TV pundit Austin Healey had spotted it first.

Is this kind of clause common or a one off?

                    Comment

What would it even mean? The choice of which national team to play for if selected is always with the player isn't it? His contract surely doesn't say that he must choose England over Wales if he is given that choice?

                      Comment

It can’t say that specifically, but contractual terms could depend on the choice he makes. And those terms could be so onerous to effectively make it not a real choice at all

I guess it's a clause that would be fairly standard in the English game that allows for England call ups and training camps.

(I'm imagining first dibs over Exeter, not first dibs in international call up as I have the same thoughts as ad hoc).

It's hard without seeing the full article but reading around it would appear that the player would have to repay university costs if he chooses an international side other than England. That could be for reasons of funding Exeter receive from the ERFU or because they see an England player as having more value or convenience for them.

I would have questions about the enforceability of that provision, though I can certainly understand why the player wouldn't bring a challenge

Reports in the US that Rees-Zammit will be signing with Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs later this week

Still saying RB or WR. Thought they might have zeroed in on that by now.

I imagine the hope is a McCaffreyesque.dual threat.

He could also be a beneficiary of the new kickoff rules.

No thought on him playing at TE or is he considered too undersized for that?

Would a team give one of their 53 roster slots to a specialist kick returner?

He would need to add at least 25 pounds of muscle to have a shot as a "small" tight end. Not to mention the fact that blocking, the position's primary role, is completely alien to him.

The new kickoff rules will largely eliminate kicks sailing through the end zone, which was happening almost half the tine and eliminating returns entirely. They also give the returner a better chance at not having to face one or more defenders arriving at full speed. I would imagine that the general dynamic of play will be more familair to a rugby player thsn someone grounded in gridiron.

Specialist returners used to be a regular thing, but have tended to disappear as the number of returns have fallen. The new rules will make them more valuable, and Lees-Zammit has the skills to be a plausible option for a backup receiving running back.

I can see Mahomes being intrigued at the options he could provide as a receiver.
