Re: What a Burke!, the hockey thread

Tretiak (and Kharlamov) were the most advanced representatives of the clearly superior civilisation.

While the Habs were (very much) the best North American hockey had to offer at the time, even more than an All Star Team would have been.

Nordic teams continue to dominate, with the notable exception of Farjestad, who got smoked at home by Davos.

Took in Espoo Blues 4 - 2 Grenoble Wolf Burners at the weekend.

Perhaps influenced by the club seats being open to all and thus having access to the bar that serves real beer, found it was a very enjoyable game with a surprising amount of malice. Blues comfortably looked the more capable, albeit a slight panic as they trailed 0-1 after 20 minutes. Both Wolf Burners' goals coming on powerplays. OK-ish crowd (1800 odd) too.

Does anybody want to comment on socckey shirts?

A cool mashup of hockey and soccer shirts, apparently.

Do Espoo have CHL ticket offers for SM-Liiga season ticket holders, gavc23? The two home group fixtures for Kärpät are included in the cost of a season ticket.

The result? an attendance of 5500+ versus Krefeld.

Yes, they're included in the price of the season ticket - though there aren't that many season ticket holders to be honest. On Saturday they just left the doors to the club seats open whereas usually there's at least a bored glance at your ticket to get in.

You can pick and choose your seat for 95% of the games so the only benefit of a season ticket is the price rather than getting a place in your favoured area.
