Northampton is south of the Watford Gap, and they played there last month...

How did Yorkshire win that? Great to see Surrey hoofed out, but will the Tykes stick with the youngsters on Finals day or bring in the internationals? Still, that was a seriously impressive win.

Wow. How on earth did Surrey throw that away? Yorkshire are going to win now aren't they? It'll be like Denmark in the '92 Euros.

                Ok

Various posts in the "Tweeter'sfear" from Simon Heffer about Stephen Fry.

Looks like it's behind a Telegraph paywall

Anyone any access to Fry's comments?

Well that was all a bit embarrassing unfortunately. Thought it was going to be one of those nights after all the misfields early on. We had a few like that early on in the tournament but I thought we'd got them out of our system now.

My favourite comment on twitter of the night - "I know that we win and lose as a team but a loss of this magnitude really calls for human sacrifice. Scrimshaw gets to choose who."

Even by their extraordinary standards, getting 0 wickets and bowling just 2 maidens and 22 no-balls in a morning session is plumbing new depths for Leicestershire.

Just the 40 no-balls from the day and hurrah for the 7 maidens and 4 wickets. Just a shame that Sussex got over 400runs on the first day...

It looks like the pitch at Hove may be a bit of a road, nmrfox.

Glamorgan have made a remarkable turnaround against Notts.

After we made 318, it looked like Notts were cruising to a big first innings lead at 233-3. But the middle order failed, and the tail collapsed against the second new ball, and they were all out for 285. Since when Byrom and Lloyd have taken us to 161 (one hundred and sixty one) without loss. If we can win this, and Middlesex lose to Worcestershire (which is quite possible) then we'll be right back in the promotion hunt.

I see Middlesex are playing at Merchant Taylor's School. A private school. Is the venue nice, accessible, have a decent capacity etc.?

Dunno, but my boss was there yesterday. I think he went to school there back in the day.

Looks like a rather lovely setting:

Ten minute walk from Moor Park tube. Lots of space for folding chairs and stools, plus grassy banks and a pavilion.

They've made sure to get four days of cricket in Scarborough

Three stumpings for Tattersall at Scarborough. You don't see that very often.

Jennings about to hit a triple ton for Lancs.

Somerset are in jeopardy of losing after posting 446 in their first innings. 44-3 now in their second innings, still 134 behind after Jennings triple.

And Yorkshire are in jeopardy of losing after posting 521 in their first innings. 126-6 in their second innings, effectively 132-6.

And Sussex are probably not in jeopardy of losing after posting 588, but with Leics 709-4 in reply, they certainly aren't going to be winning. Ackermann and Mulder have put on 430* so far with both making double hundreds.

90 overs from Sussex have been bowled by left arm spinners Rawlins and Coles. both have first class bowling averages over 70, so not the most challenging bowling - though both bowling averages were considerably below 70 when this innings started.

Leics. might as well just bat on and set a few records. Stand is now 452*.

They've already broken the highest team total and highest partnership in Leicestershire history. Highest individual score is still to beat, but Ackermann already holds that one!

520 is the world record for the 5th wicket - Pujara and Jadeja. Pujara is on the opposite side today. Wonder if he knows (or cares).
