Route one stuff there I see NS, impressive.

Delighted to say I managed to match that with my best shot in ages:

Nailing the first letter and ruling out three common vowels with my tee shot was huge, then that little last skip to reveal the S left me positioned really nicely in sight of the green with a very makeable pin position. Nearly went with ROUTS to try to eliminate all 5 vowels, but at the last moment changed grip on my iron and it paid off in spades.

Normally if I hit a six I look at my mistakes, but in this case I think each go was a sensible guess, and I was just unlucky.

Of course, the biggest slice of bad luck was not going with my standard starter word - I'm pretty sure I'd've been under six with RATIO

I discounted METRO as I felt it was both an abbreviation and a proper noun. Having said that RETRO feels a bit slang too.
