    Spanish football 2015-16

Huge night tonight in Segunda B with the Zaragosa/Oviedo and Girona/Alcorcon games the pick of the vital promotion matches.

In both cases I'm hoping for away victories.

Alaves promoted automatically, with the second spot now between Legnanes and Nastic. Oviedo mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.

Not really paid much attention to the Segunda this season but it pains me to some extent to see Real Mallorca where they are.

          What's happening there?

It's a shame, yes. I haven't been able to see how things have been on the pitch, but it seems there's always lots of boardroom shenanigans going on at the Iberostar. Need to win and hope for the best next week.

Good old CE Sabadell finished 7th in the Segunda B, but it seems economic problems have provoked this appeal. Visca'ls arlequinats!

I documented the trials and tribulations of the teams local to Bilbao in the play-offs over in the weekend matchgoing thread but anyone interested in some pictures can see them here.

Monchi and United would not be a good fit.

Some suspiciously unusual results in the final Segunda Division matches on Saturday.

Real Zaragoza definitely have some 'splainin to do.

Quite how one manages to lose 6-2 to a team that was already going down when even a draw would have gotten you into the playoffs is an interesting question. That one result represented 14% of the golas that Llagostera scored all season.

Oviedo were at least officially eliminated from contention, so their lying down to Osasuna is a bit easier to understand.

If Osasuna get promoted there will be plenty of 'Basque' derbies to look forward to in the La Primera next season.

Sure to be four Basque clubs and Osasuna can make it five. Same with Andalusia if Cordoba emerge from the playoffs.

Also a decent chance for three Catalan clubs given that 'Nastic and Girona are the other two playoff teams.

Cordoba will be hampered by the fact that their leading scorer has gone off to the Euros

                                Poor Alcorcón.

Lagun Onak, the last team from the Basque Country involved in the Tercera play-offs, fell yesterday.
