            2015-16 Europa League

2-2 v a good Rijeka side was one of the best, if most nervy 2nd halves of football I've seen for long while.

5-2 on aggregrate is a very good result, so Asia now awaits in the next qualifying round of the Europa league.

Dandies' trip to Kazakhstan is indeed the longest journey ever undertaken for a European tournament game:

Aberdeen duly lose 2-1. Could have been worse, they were two goals down after about 20 minutes.

West Ham, who are only in this competition at all because of the Fair Play League, have now racked up their third red card in five games.

Sampdoria are losing 3-0 at home to Vojvodina

Good results for French clubs so far.

St. Etienne won 3-0 away against Targu-Mures and Bordeaux won at home by the same score against AEK Larnaca

Legia's match in Albania was abandoned after one of their players was hit by a rock.

Interesting little stat from Southampton's 3-0 win over Vitesse last night. Southampton's players have played more Eredivisie matches than Vitesse's. 675 v 613.

Went along to Southampton v Vitesse last night. Vitesse weren't bad but just played far too narrowly and left too much space for Cedric Soares in particular to marauder forward.

Vitesse fans were pretty loud and impressive. Even when drowned out by yet another rendition of When the Saints Go Marching In.

I think the true winners of yesterday's Saints vs Vitesse match were Yates's in Above Bar St who fuelled much of the loud and impressive.

Omonia versus Brondby has been suspended after an Omonia goal was ruled out for offside and the Omonia fans responded by bombarding the assistant referee with coins and other objects.

Thun beat Vaduz on away goals, nothing much in that. However both sides are from Switzerland, how have they been paired together?

Vaduz are from Liechtenstein but play in the Swiss league.

Aren't they representing Switzerland in the same way that Swansea represented the premier league?

Has something happened in the Atromitos AIK match?

No, they've only ever qualified for Europe through their annual annexation of the Liechtenstein Cup (won it something like 15 times in the last 16 seasons).

Cheers for that DR, thought they had qualified through the Swiss league.

Just seen that Walter Zenga is the manager of Sampdoria, when did that happen?

                                            Over the summer.

And given their "performance" against Vojvodina, he may not make it to the first game of Serie A

So has anybody from Southampton FC come out and said "We've done all we're ever going to do in the league, we'll never break the quadropoly*, so let's not worry about Sundays this season and put out our Thursday best, because this is something we might actually win, and never have, and let's face it, will be a lot more fun than battling Spurs for 6th"?

                                                  Probably not, but they should.
