    The Redbirds

Hull's rebrand confirmed. It's rare that two promoted clubs manage to make the Premier League even tackier.

Well you have to admit, in a city where the Rugby League club are called "Hull FC", the (proper) football club needs to do something.

I quite like Hull Tigers. I think the owner should release a few, around East Yorkshire, as well. Could liven the place up a bit.

Hull KR would like to talk to you.

They are, I believe, known locally as 'City'.

kevchenko, I hope you appreciate I was trying to be ironic. I noticed you had no objection to my suggestion that actual live tigers be introduced into the fauna of Yorkshire.

                What a charmer.
It is about identity. City is a lousy identity.

I wonder if the owners will give it two or three years then go the whole way and drop the "City" entirely from their name.

There must be some other owners looking on with interest to see if they can do the same - Leicester Foxes? Blackburn Chickens?

If we're talking about names, they really ought to be Kingston City AFC as Hull is the name of the river.

                        I didn't realise this:

'The "Association Football Club" part of the Yorkshire club's name, which has been in effect since their formation in 1904, will be scrapped.'

Surely, if anything, both the words 'Ipswich' and 'Town' would be dropped so that they become 'Marcus Evans FC'.

Well I hardly think WSC is in much of a position to criticise this move, given the name of its editor.

                                  That would be great, mind.

Well, he is preparing the path for the inevitable name change there. . As usual, you should never read the comments but this

"Changing a shirt colour is one thing but Mr Tan may find out the saying 'what's in a name?' It may just unite all Cardiff City fans and not divide them as the colour issue."
is laughable even by the standards of this fiasco wrapped in a farce wrapped in a debacle

But it is easy to color in letters of Kingston.
