New Orleans and Jefferson has just elected the first Vietnamese-American to Congress in the Louisiana 2nd District Congressional race - Anh "Joseph" Cao.

William "Dollar Bill" Jefferson, the creepy Democrat who was caught with $90,000 in his freezer amongst going on trips to Botswana to buy blood diamonds and taking bribes from Nigerian telecommunications executives and stealing from the New Orleans School Board, finally lost after 20 years.

Cao has a very interesting story, as he escaped Ho Chi Minh City during the war, became a Jesuit, lost faith in God, then became a lawyer in the Vietnamese Community in New Orleans East.

And no, this thread was not about Cao Cigars.

I would have thought the first would have come from Orange County, CA, but most of the representatives from there are long-time incumbents. Soon, though, I suppose.
