For all the "OTF was better in the old days" complaints there's only a handful of people in the top 40 who aren't still posting regularly.

As a newbie here, I've no idea why the old times should have been better but I've been on other forums and it's pretty clear to me that the old-timers get to know each other's opinions on just about everything so in the end there's little point in even discussing these issues.
Has there ever been a thread on possible new threads: off-beat/unusual/unheralded subjects which would generate a zillion posts? How about one on string, for example, and does anyone ever buy it any more and if so for what (can't be for wrapping parcels, surely?)?

I only joined in 2008 but I remember most of those (SSS had gone by then but his absence was regularly lamented).
Who was/is Dr Strangely Strange though?
By the way, cheers DG - happy to be at the bottom of the festive 50 - I used to post on a motorsport forum, flounced in 2014 but I’m still well inside the top 40 on there, so happy to have achieved more of a balance between real life and daubing shit on the internet.

Talking of OF-supporting senior OTF-ers, another messaged me earlier deriding anal-gazing threads such as this one. Which would be fair enough if said veteran didn't have an impressive 8 separate user accounts...

In Test average terms, Ursus is Bradman, with WOM and Berbs in Steve Smith (+Pollock, Headley, Sutcliffe*) range.
