Yes, my problem with him is definitely "more than a hint of the diseased old English know your station mentality" and is in no way connected to his dogwhistling to the far right in his constant references to "social justice warriors" and "snowflakes", nor the doxxing of people who have the temerity to disagree with him by his frankly appalling followers.

Jordan Peterson appears very profound and has convinced many people to take him seriously. Yet he has almost nothing of value to say. This should be obvious to anyone who has spent even a few moments critically examining his writings and speeches, which are comically befuddled, pompous, and ignorant. They are half nonsense, half banality. In a reasonable world, Peterson would be seen as the kind of tedious crackpot that one hopes not to get seated next to on a train.

London Review of Books on Peterson
‘Any critic of yours online gets absolutely lambasted by your followers,’ Cathy Newman told Jordan Peterson on Channel 4 News in January. After the interview, Newman received such torrents of online abuse that Channel 4 had to call in security specialists. Peterson, a clinical psychologist at Toronto University, was on the show to discuss the gender pay gap and to promote his new book, Twelve Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos. The gender pay gap, he insists, is not a result of discrimination: he believes that women are by their nature more inclined to take jobs which, it so happens, are less well paid.
Peterson sympathised with his supporters’ contempt for Newman’s style of questioning, but distanced himself from the abuse. ‘If you’re threatening her, stop,’ he told his 300,000 Twitter followers (now more than half a million). But ‘the dark part of me thought,’ he said later, that ‘if I wanted to sick my internet trolls on Channel 4, then there would be nothing but broken windows and riots. And then there’s a little part of me that thinks – wouldn’t that be fun?’

Ok, here, from the first page of google results is his FB page where he retweets/shares something from the "Milo Book Club" about "Social Justice warriors". Sharing implies approval, and this feels pretty ideological and pretty hard right to me https://www.facebook.com/drjordanpet...84610368269763

Originally posted by BrunoNo, he's definitely against SJWs. But I've also heard him be explicit in calling out the far right. He's interested in talking to and reasoning with the far right rather than marginalizing them. He sees them as being in a state of profound error but he sees the SJWs as making the situation worse.
Unless SJW means something else

Originally posted by BrunoTo those using it pejoratively it means someone who's more about virtue-signaling than correcting injustice. I can't in good conscience conclude that virtue-signaling isn't a thing on the left, but of course it's a right-wing thing too.

Originally posted by BrunoSure, it could be futile. Are you a parent by any chance EIM? Trying to reason with children is much the same, but we parents have no choice. Somehow people have to be made to see reason. There's the saying that "you can't reason someone out of a view they didn't reason themselves into" but I don't think that's true. It doesn't explain how anyone becomes a responsible adult.

People who talk of virtue signaling and SJW, make a little sick in my mouth. If someone is getting involved in gun control/civil rights protests to feel morally superior/get chicks, I’m not sure it matters. Actions are more important than Deepest Beliefs. Protestors can be whiny and annoying, but totally necessary. Unless you believe fighting structural inequality is useless, cos we’re all oppressed (yeah you’re black/female, but I’m short, all the same innit bs) so shut up and deal with it snowflake, life isn’t fair.

And Milo is a nazi fuck. Someone who feels he has been unfairly traduced, that’s the worst kind of Both Sides Sensible Liberal.Last edited by Lang Spoon; 15-03-2018, 18:21.
