I saw the front cover of Heat magazine near the tills in Sainsbury's about a month ago. To my abject horror I realised I didn't recognise any of the people on it. And the ones who had their names emblazoned under their picture offered no additional clues.

The worst part of this is, I am still completely unsure as to whether this is a good thing or a bad thing.

I went through a phase two or three years ago where I would flick through the pages of NME in Smiths of a lunchtime and think, "Blimey, I haven't heard of any of these bands. Perhaps it's time to knock being young on the head and settle down with some Coldplay and a nice mug of cocoa". Then I realised that nobody knows who the bands are, that's the whole point of those articles; and I read what the hacks had to say, and found the bands' music on the internet, and though, "Christ, that was a close one, almost hit middle age there."

Which is just as well, because I hate cocoa.

I know it's not straightforward as all that, but the family I know about are 100% non-bald - it would be a shock if I started to go bald naturally.

I was in the barber's shop a few weeks ago, and the young girl (about 20-ish) cutting my hair mentioned that she was going to Creamfields over the weekend. Despite hating small talk like this, I decided to make the effort, and said something along the lines of "Isn't Fatboy Slim playing that?". A pause, and then she said, "Who's he?". I know that he's not some doyen of cool, but come on! Just humour me and say "Yeah, i think so."
