The UK left should probably be offering campaigning help to our counterparts in the rest of the EU for these elections

Or learn from Portugal, where the social democrats are literally being kept in power by communists, but are still maintaining poll ratings similar to UK Labour.

Happy for that sort of alliance tbf. (Incidentally, I was quite struck by the prominence of the Portuguese CP when on holiday in the Algarve a couple of years ago - they were big on land reform back in the post-dictatorship period, apparently, which won them a lot of rural support)

When even Jim Allister is too liberal for some unionists.

Old Joloyon's political judgement is variable, but he puts the legwork in.

The Good Law Project has today threatened [1] to issue judicial review proceedings on Tuesday 26 February unless Government cancels powers to allow pharmacists to alter prescriptions for people with serious medical conditions in the event of medicines shortages.

The powers – called “Serious Shortage Protocols” (SSPs) – give pharmacists the right to supply a different quantity or pharmaceutical quality of medicine in the event of the country experiencing a serious shortage of prescription-only medicines after 29 March 2019 [2].

Because you'll have to vote if an extension goes past July 2nd.

Presumably that should apply to all MEPs elected to seats owing their existence to post-Brexit re-balancing

It allows you to build a poll based on a "Labour split" scenario, so uniform swing here.

Impressive that you can get 26 MPs from group of people currently totalling 7.

but we'll put them in anyway

Perhaps these defections mean that this thread is best for this discussion and not the Corbyn one.

I'm in shock that Soubry has done anything more than talk.

I'm guessing they'll be more to follow from both parties. Grieve surely must be thinking of jumping ship now.

Manufactured news in a nutshell (I'll avoid the toxic term "fake news"). A party that does not have any organizational structure doesn't just walk into a GE and grab 27 seats. There's no way the defectors will retain their own seats.

The 'Alliance' in 1983 got 23 seats but had 25.4% of the vote (a disgrace in a democracy but those are the cards we are playing with). This new pseudo-party gets 10% in a phony poll which is a as flaky as fuck.

The SDP also had big hitters. The Gang of Four were much bigger league than these flea-ridden strays.
