    Croydon tram crash

    Tram overturns in Croydon.

    "Some fatalities" reported

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-37919658

But for god's sake BBC, get a grip, will you?

There was also torrential rain earlier perhaps that had something to do with it - but this is complete speculation.
Who do you employ to write this nonsense?

Those trams struggle to make it to 40mph. How on earth has it resulted in such loss of life?

If it's anything like the Metrolink in Manchester, it'll be stuffed to the gills with commuters. How it came off the track, I have no idea, but the Manchester equivalents are dangerously over-full from 7am-9am each morning.

Electrocution, maybe? Pictures show the tram lying across the tracks, and if the tram's catenary pulled down one of the overhead cables when the derailment occurred...

          This bloody awful year.

Christ. Rail and light rail have a fantastic safety record generally. And Tramlink has had a decent amount of investment.

            Probably rammed though.

              Seven dead now.

What really angered me this evening is that the Evening Standard didn't even have the crash as front page news, it was about the sixth page in. This is and should be front page stuff tomorrow.
