My idea of a good night out is lunch

The inconvenience of trying to make more of an effort sartorially, combined with the fact that I start yawning my head off at about 8pm and yearn for my bed at about 10pm means that on the rare occasions Mrs TTDD & I venture out for a drink and a bite to eat we much prefer to go out in the afternoons.

I assume this is just one more trait of nearing my mid-fifties.

Can anyone else relate to this?

Going for lunch used to give us more time for drinking.

    Ah the olden days.

I agree. I prefer a nice 'late lunch' to trying to sit down and eat a full meal any time after about 7. Too few restaurants around us open during during the day, though. Our favourite local Bangladeshi place opens at 4 and when we go as a couple, we're normally first in there about ten minutes later.

Whenever we go out with a large group on a Saturday night and eat late, say 9 o'clock, I find I can't get to sleep until about 2 in the morning and I lose most of Sunday.

        Why is sleeping considered losing?

Well I miss most of Sunday Brunch with Tim Lovejoy, for a start.

It still does. We went out for walk on Saturday, had three pints in the We Three Loggerheads and enjoyed it so much we went to our local to continue drinking. Home and bed by nine.

Doesn't he get his round in, then? I blame the parents.

He'd just hold the glass to my face and say "drink it. DRINK IT!" with a menacing grin on his face.

At least, that's what he does with his milk.

That's exactly like drinking with my mate Richie.
