    iMovie

Anyone here proficient? I’m trying to put a portrait photo in a project so it fills half the screen and I want to put a caption in the other half.

When I drag the picture down into the timeline, it zooms in on it, filling the screen. How can I stop it doing that?

Not sure why you're doing it in iMovie, but absent more context, why not just create a new image/slide with the photo and caption together and then insert that?

What a very good, simple solution. Thanks.

I’m only using iMovie as it’s what I’ve got on my MacBook that is fast running out of memory, so I don’t want to be installing anything else. But that’s a whole other story.

If the image-plus-caption isn't part of a movie, then it makes sense to do this in Keynote, if that's already installed.
