You know when you finish a soft boiled egg?

Do you turn the shell upside down and put a hole in it, so 'the witches can't use it as a boat'?

I've been doing this since I was about four years old, after my Mum told me to, without once questioning it.

      No

I would always crush the shell, though.

Yes, I was told the same thing and so I would automatically do that, yeah

I crush them and put them around the lettuce in the garden to deter slugs.

But why would be afraid of a witch that was so tiny she could fit into half an egg shell? I mean, you could easily just step on her.

I turn mine upside down, draw a picture of Sir Alex Ferguson's face on it in felt-tip pen, then smash it in with my teaspoon.

The only relevant question surely is, before eating, whether to smash the shell and peel it off or to cut off the uppper quarter like Hannibal Lecter did with Ray Liotta's head.

It would also be a very ineffective boat, owing to the bad design of its keel.

You must go through a lot of red felt tips.
