    They're not dead!!

john mahoney is only 72, and was 53 when frasier started. He's only 15 years older than kelsey grammer. It's not that much of a surprise that he's not dead. (mahoney, not grammer, Kelsey's probably not aging one year at a time) Gambon is also a fairly hale and hearty 72 although you'd need to see his birthcert, given his fondness for recreational lying in interviews.

      They're not dead!!

David Coleman's still alive, a bit of a surprise.

So is the remarkable Bruce Lacey. But, as previously discussed, artists tend to be dead before they're thirty or live into a lively and productive old age.

Au contraire, I'd say that's rather universal.

I didn't realise he was that young in Frasier. Of course, Estelle Getty was a year younger than Bea Arthur and Betty White so it isn't uncommon.

when you look back at those early episodes now, the idea that he's frasier's dad is actually kind of ridiculous. They really have to lay it on with the walking stick and grey hair.

                Denis Healey's 96.

Ex Ulster Unionist leader Jim Molyneaux is pushing 92.

He could well outlive his party.

I must confess I thought Sunny Jim had snuffed it years ago.

                  How's Paisley doing this weather?

I don't think Lucifer has asked for extra pints of buttermilk just yet.

Of course, practically every hack in NI from district councillor up is under sentence of death from one set oor other of balaclav'd goons at the moment.

I may have to put my electoral ambitions on hold...

                      They're not dead!!

All of BBC’s Grandstand’s presenters are still alive and kicking going all the way back to Peter Dimmock, except for Helen Rollason. In fact, with the continued existence of Dickie Davies and Fred Dineage it seems as if being a sports anchor is the way to a life of comparative longevity.

The combined De Havilland/Fontaine life-span is beyond extraordinary. Anger is an energy, as John Lydon once said.

Having only just discovered that Kenneth Kendall expired a fortnight ago, I was mildly surprised to see that his newreading contemporary Richard Baker is still alive and shuffling his papers.

                            I cannot believe this.

Maggie had a little wobble just before Christmas but sadly the champagne I put to chill has had to come off the ice for the time being.

What are the odds for both of them to go on the same day?

Given recent events, James Earl Carter may end up being the US's only surviving one-termer.

The interesting thing about Fats Domino, of course, is that he was announced as dead during Hurricane Katrina and it took a week (and a lot of "Ain't That A Shame" headlines) until they announced his continuing survival. Perhaps with the thread title as a statement.

With what seems like a high attrition rate among Phil Spector acolytes in recent years, I'm happy to report that Darlene Love is still alive.

                                      ...and always will be.

Shaw Taylor is still keeping them peeled. In a name drop that will vanquish all others, I used to file his pension policy away on a regular basis.

                                              Patrick Macnee, too.
