    Genocide denial and contemporary politics

The Young Liberals have approved a motion at their party conference calling for the expulsion of Vince Cable, after the former leader claimed that Chinese actions in Xinjiang don't meet an official definition of genocide. Yet, the Chinese policies certainly match the UN criteria, such as "causing bodily or mental harm to members of the group, imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group, and imposing on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction." Of course, Cable has previous in this regard from his professional life with Shell, which Lib Dems chose to ignore, but even ignoring that, the debate about the tolerance of intolerance surely supersedes any freedom of speech concerns.

He seems to have a financial stake in promoting Chinese state interests.

you'd think the lib dems of all parties would recognise a genocide given they killed 150,000 people while in office.
