I’m stunned by the result, especially where GG takes 22% but Labour still win.

UKIP's various tribute acts had more candidates than voters

In 2017 Labour took 55 per cent against the Tories 38

galloway and labour together make 57

Galloway probably took more from the Tory than from Labour, given the new voting dynamic centres around Brexit.

                            "bucked the trend" is hilarious.

Forgot we had a hived-off thread on this

It doesn't seem right to assume all Galloway's votes came from Labour.

(Indeed it seems none other than John Curtice makes the same point).

Galloway is off to court to challenge the result (this seems incredibly unlikely, and he has form for starting crowdfunders for such things then going quiet).

It's an achievement to win was another one. Just a reminder.

Is it possible that Matt Handycock's recent activities could have been enough to persuade around 324 wavering voters to decide not to give their x to the Tories?

I think that enough wavering Labour voters were attracted by Leadbetter's transparent decency and offput by some of the nastiness of Galloway's campaign, that they stuck with the party. She may even have picked up a few votes from supporters of other parties for the same reason.

                                        I'm quite pleased if so.

Very odd result though. Can't really get my head around the numbers, specifically how the Tories managed to cock up an absolute shoo-in of a contest.

Yes. Maybe elsewhere. But yes. He said it after losing Bradford West too. It's not going to happen.

He might even have tried some crowdfunding for it back then. But anyway, it's not happening.

It wouldn't surprise me if he tried crowdfunding it again only for the court action to mysteriously not happen.

Also: I see that the EDL Racist managed to improve on her Scottish vote by about 10%.
