All the press are pulling from the same AP story, which mentions a newspaper claiming an attack on the synagogue.

Saw a police account on Twitter that there were multiple shooters. A constant in the US is that there are always reports of multiple shooters when a mass shooting is reported, but there is actually almost always only one shooter.

The photo on the Guardian looks like the river bank where Schwedenplatz metro station is, where the tram runs along the river bank. (I've been there a few times).

According to Google Maps the synagogue is a block in from the river bank.

(Although the photo could just be where the coppers are hanging out)

Seemingly random shootings on the street, I watched one before realising what it was.

That video seems to be all over Twitter (impossible to avoid if you put Vienna in the search engine) and shows a police officer being murdered by man with a rifle, although it's not obvious on first viewing. Imagine being one of his relatives and that's how you find out about his murder.

I feel strongly that, after this, Twitter has to look at having censors who can shut down those accounts immediately.

A spokesman for the synagogue has said he doesn't know that it was targeted because the synagogue was closed at the time of shooting.

Meanwhile 54 people massacred in Ethiopia over the weekend.
