I'm presuming this is the mosque that was literally torn down by hand.

I think I'm more terrified of Modi than I am of Trump. The extent to which he has institutionalised and embedded his own bigotry and authoritarianism in the functions of the Indian state surpasses anything we've seen in the States or most other "democracies". And although Neyanyahu has helped embolden him, he'd be doing all this regardless of what was going on in the Middle-East or anywhere else.

Genuinely one of the most repulsive, frightening and irredeemable people alive today.

Would accept the general point, albeit he seems to be verging on a 'legitimate' dictatorship, so in common with most of Asia currently.

So probably 'inspired' by Russia, China, Saudi etc. And overwhelming Hindu populism.

More fool most of the Indian electorate then...

Yesterday's BBC Global Story podcast was devoted to this

I might agree with E10 if I didn't live in the US. Modi is also much healthier.

So, does this go here, "Culture Wars" or the "WTF" thread?

Hindu nationalists go to court over lion named after Muslim emperor in India
Controversy in West Bengal centres around Akbar and Sita, named for a Hindu deity, being placed in the same enclosure
                      .
