One for the Brits - Jonathan Agnew, 20 years a TMS commentator and thus widely travelled, wined & dined, didn't know until this week that the kippers he enjoys for breakfast don't come out of the sea like that. Commentating on the India Test Match from Southampton, he suggested someone pop along to Portsmouth to buy some local kippers.

Yesterday, Mrs WOM had a long and important conversation with her grandmother (who's losing her mind a bit) on the phone. She called me later and said "I made notes of our conversation, but I'm thinking of getting the transcript."
So I said "What transcript?"
"Of the phone call. Can't you get that from the phone company?"
Really long pause.
"Are you being serious?"
"Nevermind."
"Do you think someone records and transcribes everyone's phone conversation? Is that....?"
"Nevermind. Forget it. I have to go."

Yeah, I can't think of anything more likely to bring lasting peace to Israel and Palestine than building the Third Temple on Temple Mount.

Slavery in Hampshire.
Police have rescued eight men from a farm after an investigation into potential slavery and servitude.
Officers from Hampshire police, supported by the National Crime Agency, executed a warrant at Little Testwood Farm in Calmore, Southampton, at 6am on Tuesday.
The men, from Romania, Latvia and Poland, are aged between 21 and 46. They have been taken to a survivor reception centre where they are receiving emotional and practical support.Comment

Actually, ursus, it is unfortunately quite a common thing over here especially with Eastern European workers. The Traveller community get the blame quite a lot and, I have to say, that, from the news reporting, they do seem disproportionately involved.
