Ex Subway weight-loss pitchman Jared Fogle has been sentenced to 15+ years for consuming vast quantities of child porn while having sex with 16 year old girls. He kisses goodbye his job, his fortune, his family and his freedom. Good choices, Jared.
Even having read (some of) the link, I'm still not sure I understand what that phrase means.
Ah. Subway restaurants built their advertising around Jared for about a decade. He'd lost over 200 pounds just by eating one of their 'healthy' subs each day for lunch. Made himself a fortune. Then got pinched for this.
BTW, when WOM says Subway "restaurants", he means Subway fast food sandwich shops. They are no closer to restaurants in North America than they are anywhere else
This man was interviewed on RTE news today about the head of the IFA (Famers association) getting half a million a year. They've cut the interview from the online section of the news.
Aside from the goal scoring and some spectacular (make that, s-p-e-c-t-a-c-u-l-a-r) goalkeeping, the other main highlight was a nasty, at times vicious, melee that broke out midway through the second quarter after Dublin keeper Conor Dooley hit the ground with a knee injury. For the next two minutes, the 21 other players, virtually all with their hurleys in hand, mixed it up in a scene straight out of the NHL, circa early-’70s. (Google: “Broad Street Bullies, fights’’).
That's fantastic. It's obvious that the game is taking place outside of the Purview of the Croke Park Disciplinary bods. Fights like that are obviously very rare. I wonder what was the scoring system. The Goalkeepers would have been knocking over points on a 100 yard pitch.

Sam wrote: Haha, they do that kind of thing here too. Not on sale signs maybe, but there is a Ted Hardy-style brand of t-shirts called Fucking Clothes.
I assumed it was advertising for that show without having read the article. It's not really the kind of thing you want to market like crazy, and you have to wonder if the MTA ever has any input on the appropriateness of advertising. The billboards for the show show the Statue of Liberty giving the Heil Hitler salute. It's really subtle!
