    Waterloo Handicap.

I'm currently watching the quarter finals of this year's Waterloo Handicap on ITV. It takes me right back to watching it as a lad with my great-uncle Tom, who was old county standard bowler from Morecambe. Ah, Vernon 'Badger' Lee and the like.

Greg Smith has just tonked his opponent 31-6 and is into the semis tomorrow. Now it's Matt Gilmore (5) v Roy Moxham (5). Any other bowls fans?

All of our local greens (including the one at the Village pub) are crown green. It's a great (but frustrating) game to play.

Sorry. Quarter finals on today - first one on now on ITV4. It's the first live screening for 26 years.

James Bramley v Ross Dunkley; Ian Nicholson v Simon Coupe; Ant Bracken v Greg Smith; Roy Moxham v Lee Fletcher.

          I've started so I'll finish.

          Semi finals are:

Ross Dunkley v Ian Nicholson (who beat Simon Coupe in a grand display of corner-to-corner bowls)

Greg Smith (looks to be pissing this) v Lee Fletcher

I know next to nothing about bowls, other than watching the odd indoor match on TV. The Waterloo's bowls stadium with proper terrace looks great though.

Yes, it looks like a great venue - over 1500 there today. I'm tempted to make a trip up next year.

                Semi final results:

                Ross Dunkley 21 v 16 Ian Nicholson

                Greg Smith 21 v 14 Lee Fletcher

Both bowlers from the West Midlands, and both in their 20s.

                  Final score

                  Greg Smith 21 v 19 Ross Dunkley

A cracking final and the 22 year old finally came through.
