Exciting finish to the men's triathlon. I don't know if people want to avoid spoilers on this thread?

Suburbs of Brum looking pleasant on a summer's day. Decent sized crowd on the course too.

Amusing moment on the telly where Ellie Simmonds admits to not knowing much about Duran Duran "I've heard their songs but didn't know they were by Duran Duran, like "Gold""

Jess Jonassen bowling very well for Australia, good thing for them as India have been pretty effective against everyone else.

There is virtually no coverage of this in the US.

An hour long highlights package reportedly on The Olympic Channel which is unavailable to the large majority of the country and being euthanised in the fall.

Fine innings from Ash Gardner brings it home for Australia when it looked for all the world as if it was going to be a repeat of the opening game of the last World T20. Jolly nice to be able to watch a match like that on proper telly.

Pakistan looked done at the halfway point of their innings but Barbados are looking a bit shaky now. Still, 45 from 21 left. It's going to be hard for Pakistan to win.

There was a qualifying event in the cricket in which 5 teams competed for one spot (won by SL). It would have been nice to have all 5 there in a 12 team event, although hard to fit into the duration of the tournament.

went to the swimming heats yesterday and on way to aquatic centre now which is a bit of a mission given the rail stoike.

very excited about the 200 m freestyle.

they havent quite finished the venue so lots of colourful screen up around the place. iimsgine the team invoëved are gutted.

went to rugby 7 last night the highlight was seeing Uganda draw with australiA. big support for the Cranes.

I was at the Pakistan Barbados game yesterday. Don't know how Pakistan qualified but Barbados were chosen to represent the west indies because, at the time, they were the reigning T20 champions of the west indies. However, Jamaica are the current holders.

The West Indies were going to hold qualifiers but COVID intervened. Jamaica's win* was only last month so way too late. If they'd done it on all-time wins (it started in 2013), Barbados and Jamaica would be tied on three each.

*which was on NRR; had it been H2H, Barbados would have won it:

Do sports bodies all have clauses with their kit companies that allow Olympics and Commonwealth competitions to have an org wide kit?

Or is it the case that, this isn't an ECB England team? Or similar?

What happens with football at the Olympics?

Ramasinge looks very good. Two wickets as Sri Lanka try to defend 106

I think Sri Lanka will beat South Africa, and might pip New Zealand.

Horrendous crash in the Men's Scratch Race involving most of the field. Could be some serious injuries and racing looks like being delayed for quite a while, speculation that one rider ended up in the crowd.

NZ v Fiji just starting in the Men's Sevens semi-finals, could be a cracker.

It is a cracker and going in to extra time after the most amazingly dramatic passage of injury time where Fiji couldn't convert despite a two man advantage and multiple penalties.

The rest of the Track Cycling session has been postponed, though think it was only one race remaining. Very worrying.

Holy fuck! Fiji receive the kick-off and run the length of the pitch to win it sudden death. One of the most jaw-dropping sporting contests I have seen in a long time.

NZ should include Aesop's Fables in their team talks.

HT: 14-0. But they want more, don't kick for touch, and it's 14-7.

FT: 14-14, have to find touch, no option now. Too late, the dog has lost all his dinner.

Saw Emyr Evans (WR 93) give top seed and World No.2 Paul Coll a real run for his money in the last 16 of the Squash today. Coll eventually won 3-1 (and did win one of the games 11-0!) but the fourth game was a tie-breaker so could easily have gone either way. One of those defeats that ought to give the losing player an very big boost, as it should show Evans he is capable of competing with the very best in the world.

Fantastic afternoon in the Veldorome today watching the final session of Track Cycling. Antipodeans largely dominating the medals but a typically wonderful performance from Laura Trott/Kenny to win the Scratch Race (one English women victory I can completely get behind).

Are these games being included in England stats? That doesn't seem right? For cricket I mean

Cricinfo is considering them full Women's T20Is, so I imagine the answer is yes.

It is particularly complicated for Barbados.

The Barbados question aside, I don't think it is categorically different from considering men's Asian Cup matches to be ODIs, which has been the case for yonks.

Wales Lawn Bowls Men's Pairs win this morning was absolutely nail-biting drama, 15-6 up at one point they then went on a 1-10 run before rallying to a 19-18 win.
