On the other hand, I'm not convinced that ritual humiliation is the best way of dealing with people who drive on pavements. In fact, I'm amazed that it's even legal for a judge to order this.
As anyone who has gone to a Cambridge United by car might know, it's quite normal to drive along the pavement. It did feel weird the couple of times I turned onto the pavement via the dropped kerb bit of a Pelican Crossing, though.
I was walking past the local graveyard today just up the road from my house when a car came from behind and cut in front of me to park outside it. The back tyre was just in front of my foot as she passed. I had to walk right past her as she got out of the car so I asked her if she'd like another go at hitting me since she missed the first time.
