From boos to chanting his name. This is like Rocky IV in reverse.

The reason I prefer Federer to Nadal is their arms.

Fuck you Nadal and your huge biceps

Medvedev has never won a match from two sets down. Now would be a fine utterly unbelievable time to start

It nearly was the full Rocky IV story. He even did a speech about people changing at the end. Only thing is, in Daniil's story, his Drago won the day.

And to wrap up, Mertens/Sabalenka beat Azarenka/Barty in the Women's Doubles. First Slam title for either of them, in a burgeoning partnership - they did the sunshine double in the spring and made the Semis in Paris and Quarters in Wimbledon.

That makes the honour roll look like this:-

Men's Singles: Rafael Nadal - 19th Slam title, 4th in New York
Women's Singles: Bianca Andreescu, 1st Slam title
Men's Doubles: Cabal/Farah - clearly the current World No.1 pair (and also jointly hold the individual top ranking) after backing up their Wimbledon title from two months ago. Possible quite famous in Colombia...
              Women's Doubles: Mertens/Sabalenka - see above
Mixed Doubles: J.Murray/Mattek-Sands - successful title defence, 5th Mixed Slam crown for Murray, 4th for Mattek-Sands

              Also throw in
Boys Singles: Jonas Forejtek (Cze) - was the 4th seed, won from a set down in the Final
Girls Singles: Maria Camila Osorio Serano (Col) - also the 4ths seed, lost just one game in the Final. Opponent was a qualifier.
Wheelchair Men's Singles: Alfie Hewitt (GBr) - 5th Slam title, was the defending champion in NY
Wheelchair Men's Singles: Diede de Groot (Ned) - 7th Slam title, also a successful defence of her crown
Wheelchair Quad Singles: Andrew Lapthorne (GBr) - 2nd Slam title, first since 2014. Thrashed the defending champ in the final. Having lost to him earlier in the round robin!

I feel Nadal has shown again that he's the mentally strongest of the Big 3 in matches that swing back and forth like this final did. Four Slam titles on what used to be his weakest surface.

The amazing thing about Nadal is that he was always felt to be the one whose style would mean his career would not be long. Sure he's had many injury problems, but he's the only one of the Big Four who's never been out of the top ten since he first made it, and despite being a lot younger than Federer, he's won more majors in his thirties than Federer.
