50-over matches to be split into 2 "innings" of 25 overs each
Okay, the ICC aren't openly crediting me with the idea, but I have been advocating this for years, and have posted several suggestions to the authorities along these lines over that time.
It would reduce the importance of winning the toss on a pitch that is clearly changing over the course of a full match, and might also eliminate some of the need for Duckworth-Lewis calculations where one team's innings is severely affected by weather for part of the day.
The tactics involved would be interesting. Would the batsmen at the crease after 20 overs, with their eye in, seek to push on like mad for the last few overs of the "first innings", or consolidate their positions knowing they would be coming out to bat again after fielding for 25 overs?
