This has got to be good, yeah?

The BBC website's 'Sound of 2009' longlist, featuring "Fifteen of the best rising music stars... designed to find the best up-and-coming acts for the coming year" - and not a single landfill indie act to be seen.

    Promising development, or transient bandwagon-jumping?

Whatever else they say, they're right about Ladyhawke being great.

Absolutely. I'm quite excited by this whole electro revival thing.

I absolutely love Little Boots, which is a shame as she is therefore guaranteed never to achieve any meaningful chart success.

Well, as if any more incontrovertable evidence were needed that we're witnessing a massive sea-change in the way popular music is being recorded, the new Yeah Yeah Yeah's album is apparrently devoid of any guitars whatsoever. Hopefully this cataclysmic event will signal the final downfall of the world's most over-rated instrument.

Or if not, of the world's most over-rated band.
