I'd only just noticed this recently, but Isi by Neu! appears to be a direct influence on Aphex Twin's Flim.

OK, maybe stretching "predominantly" a little too far...

As an avid jazz, house, techno etc lover. The question is too hard to answer.

Steve Vai - The Audience is Listening, For the Love of God

Rather like Luke R., as a lover of jazz and electronica there’s no way that I could really do this question justice. However, in a genre where instrumentals are less common, I’d nominate ‘Frankenstein’ by the Edgar Winter Group. As a 13 year-old when it first came out in 1973 I was completely blown away by it and for the first time my eyes and ears were opened to the fact that there were alternatives to the three minute pop song out there. Not better, I hasten to add, just different. Within a year or so via prog rock and the ‘Canterbury’ bands I arrived at ‘Bitches Brew’. And after that nothing was the same.

I'm with Bored regarding Green Onions and Pipeline.

                  Also:

                  L.A. - The Fall

                  Oscillate Wildly - The Smiths

Paint Your Wagon - Red Lorry Yellow Lorry

(I orginally had Wide Receiver by The Sisters Of Mercy on the list, but there's too much singing in it for it to qualify.)

Far too many to mention. But off the top of my head:

                      Liquidator — Harry J
Double Barrel — Dave and Ansell Collins
                      Cecilia Ann — The Surftones
Green Onions, of course (throw in Soul Limbo and Hang Em High for good measure)
Blow Up a Go-Go — James Taylor Quartet
                      Wonderful Life — The Shadows

Was The Horse once of this parish named after The Horse by Dexy's/Bureau (and/or slower versions before that)?

                              Anyway, that's my pick.

I believe that on some other thread I explained my idea for a bar/venue that would only play surf music, except Fridays would be rockabilly night and Sundays would be bachelor pad brunch!

The decor would be a mishmash of 50s and 60s contemporary style and pop-culture and the staff would wear whatever they want, as long as it's appropriate to that period.

Orion by Metallica from Master of Puppets is a thing of great beauty.

Not so beautiful that it'd make you forget that they're a bunch of wildlife-murdering,Napster-closing, right-wing, military fetishising scumbags, though.

Sounds like my second local except there is regular-ish folk nights (it's ok, it's in the week) and the decor is 'crumbling' chic.
