DG - yes that's pretty likely. People used to listen to Hungarian radio and it was seen as behaviour liable to get you reported to the securitate. There is a hill above Cluj that people used to go to with TV sets run off car batteries to watch Hungarian and international (eg World Cup) football

PS thanks AH, apologies for making light of it- possibly as when my parents worked in Eastern bloc embassies the State Security Apparatus was shall we say a tad half-hearted. You'd pick up the phone in your flat to hear a couple of bored staffers chatting in Russian on a party line

not pro-state on the contrary = definition

"one" = "an" "affected" =" arch" (as in "an arch remark") "is German" = "ist"

Ah. It was the pro-state division that I was overlooking (I couldnt get the arch bit either but can see it now)

I was wondering if I should have indicated that like "we hear". I did consider something like "Not prostate (if divided) - on the contrary"

I only got it from the missing letters, but see it now.

I wasn't entirely sure about DG's being prostate either. I'd been pondering whether pancreas worked but I couldn't quite nail the wordplay, ending up with a spare 'ott'. Can anyone explain?
