Technically Erdely is the Hungarian word for Transylvania, Erdelyi means "from Transylvania"

Thanks AH. Imagine if the Damned's singer had stood in temporarily for Joey Ramone. You'd have had Tommy and Dave (transyl)Vanian in the same line up

A peter is a slang term for a SAFE

Lawwell discontented, ie having its content removed, gives LL

                                      Really? Never heard that before.

Thanks IT. I would never have got that- neat but the slang too obscure/ archaic?

Peter = safe has a respectable pedigree in crossword-ese, I'd have thought. Then again, I've never seen 'etui' used anywhere other than in a grid.

Ps IT's 'peter' reference is archaic because even gnarled veterans (AH and self) have long forgotten it?

I've not forgotten it. Genuinely never heard it (or encountered it in a crossword)

Sorry- I was stressing that Peter is of its time (rather than that AH is amnesiac or IT geriatric)
