I finally ended my downward spiral and got promoted. I'm back to the youth academy model and will supplement with an occasional transfer.

Change report in the Human League was crap, frankly.

It is for me a very rare thing to be happy about a change report in the Human League, but this time it was. We did not have a double jump, but we got for the first time (or at least it was so long that I would not remember) this season a 17/5 Youth from the Academy. There was no double jump, but it was one of the rare occasions that ALL players got positive development, not one was negative. Also, 14 out of 15 players got a visible jump. I cannot complain this time. hopüefully this is a trend for me :-)

And by the way, Kudos to AuntieBeryl, that was a quick start into the new season, I can imagine that is some pain to be an Admin in this phase of the Xpert Eleven. That is also a Kudos to all the Admins here in the Forum, I really appreciate your work in these times.

So this a summary of the new changes by VA. The use of AI managers will really help to get leagues set up quickly which is a plus.

That's an excellent and long overdue tool for league admins. Getting managers in to do the update is one of the biggest ball aches. I presume the AI managers are automatically sacked once the season update is done. I guess I will find out next weekend when the season ends in the Heineken League.

I've just managed to log in.

So I was looking through the official job centre and spotted a club with a much better squad than mine had just become available. I applied and got it, but unsurprisingly many players form is in the toilet. Like average form of 3 or 4 after 7 games. One of those players is a youngster who has played every game, no idea how his form has never recovered, even a little bit. Taking over mid-season seems like a booboo, but they are in the 3rd round of the cup despite the previous manager not bothering after setting up his default to the youngest XI for the opening cup game. So 4 cup wins and 3 league defeats. So bye bye Wayland FC. Someone is going to pick up a team that is promising and has been looked after, so is in form. I've even set the next game and a sensible default team too.

So this team I took over after 7 games with many of the key players having average form in the toilet as mentioned above, I knew it was important to get a good cup run and try and pack in as many competitive games as possible to fix the average form. With 6 wins and a draw in the league that part has been going well. They've gone from zero points at rock bottom to joint 2nd. What is most amazing though is I've somehow managed to have an extraordinary cup run and am now in the 8th round/Quater final of the Xpert League Cup from Division 3! In the last 3 rounds beating teams 112, 119 and 95 seed placings above me. The last one a nerve wracking 9-8 win on penalties with all 11 players taking. I've never been past the 5th round with Wayland so into hugely uncharted territory. I'm having a bit of a brag now as there's no way this can keep continuing. On seedings I should have been knocked out 4 rounds ago. After all it has given that boost to average form I was hoping for, with those poor ones that got screwed under the previous/zombie manager. Some are about 1 game away from finally averaging 10! For them its a season lost with only 4 league games left, but at least they aren't going backwards.

Damn. Luck definitely ran out. Missing a senior defender to suspension, star defender Joran Dicksson was seriously injured in the 23rd minute, to be replaced by the only remaining defender from the bench, 18 year old Montay Biva. Held out valiantly before losing 1-0 to a penalty.
