I loved the snippet that when the FA went out to inspect the stadium, they found it had no toilets for fans. Kazakhs, apparently, don't go to the loo at stadiums. They've had to install a row of portaloos especially for the beer-guzzling England fans.

Come down the Ural mountains to the Caspian Sea, as the regularly understood dividing line between Europe and Asia, and a corner of Kazakhstan turns out to be in Europe. So they claim their place, the way that Russia, Turkey and the Caucasus states do.
