or at least, if this latest guff ends up happening. which it won't.

i mean, it'd be a shame if they spent all those years ruining the european cup, only to end up kicking out most of the big names, wouldn't it?

Hahahahaha. This is crazy. Just insane! Manchester United aren't in debt. No sirree. Not one penny. And to prove this, I present to you David Gill and his cooked books.

A YEAR OF RECORD PROFIT, see. Manchester United are richer now than ever before. And that doesn't even factor in a hugely successful last season. Successful both on, and off the pitch. Who can forget our historic Champions League win? Historic in that it paid out prize money the like of which we've never seen before. And then there's a money spinning one off match we played in Nigeria. And fingers crossed, AIG will go bust soon so we can get another shirt sponsorship windfall. All of which is rolled up on the muscular, hairless thighs of Cristiano Ronaldo, who's mere presence in the team ensures a media profile envied across the continent. Nothing to be worried about at all. No debts, no problems, no bans.

So up yours, Taylor! Butt out UEFA! Manchester United are the richest, toppermost team in the world! And don't you dare look behind that cushion, where we've cunningly hidden Red Football Ltd, a Glazer owned holding company that finds itself some £660 million in debt. But that's nowt to do with us, understand?

When is a debt not a debt?

      When it's:

Even softer than soft debt. Its equivalent to equity for all practical purposes.
You carry on telling yourself that, dear.

The other issue that article raises is the complete misunderstanding football has with this 'foriegn ownership' thing. Martin Samuel was banging on about this the other day as well.

There's is no problem, as far as I see it, with foriegn ownership. I don't think anyone has really claimed there is, have they? If they have it's a spectacular bit of point missing.

        But anyway, this:

"Our objective – as it has been for several years and will continue to be – is to break, or as close to, break-even as we possibly can in order that we don't have to look to Mr Abramovich to fund us continually.
        This is amazing.
